Walkerville Players and Families
It is great to have the season finally underway with round 1 and 2 now completed. While there have been some settling in issues, overall it has gone well. The biggest challenge has been our oval not being available. It also looks like true footy weather has started to set in.
Below is an update on things that are happening around the club.
We have some fantastic Merchandise specials at the moment as well.
We have started holding some limited training sessions on the oval, partly at the request of the Walkerville Sports Club to test the surface (your team managers will continue to update you on training venues). However, we have decided that at this stage it is still not to a standard we would like for games. So at this stage our Round 3 games will still be hosted at other clubs and we will continue to review on a week by week basis.
We have had some great support from other clubs to help us through this period including Fitzroy, Athelstone and Para Hills and we want to acknowledge this and express our appreciation.
Your team Managers and coaches will keep you updated on training and playing venues, but it will continue to be a week to week proposition.
Crows in Clubs
We were fortunate to host a Crows in Clubs event at Walkerville early this week. The Crows sent a number of players to meet our under 6 to under 8 group including Tex Walker, Andy Ottens, Jake Kelly, Jonathon Beech and one of our own, Harrison Wigg, who played for the Walky Cats in his junior days. It was a very wet night so the event was hosted in the club rooms, but we are sure the boys still enjoyed the night.
We were asked to limit the event to 100 children in our under 6 to under 8 age groups. We are looking to host another event for our under 9 and older boys later in the year so stay tuned and we will update as soon as something is organised.
Auskick has started again for another year. Paul Bettison is coordinating this and we have close to 70 children participating this year. Auskick runs each Saturday from 9am to 10am. If you know anyone interested in joining, please pass on the club email (email@example.com) and ask them to contact us.
Sammy D Foundation Event
As we advised earlier in the year, we will be hosting a Sammy D event for our under 13 to under 15 boys. The event called ‘Party Wise’ will be held on Monday 6 June at 7:30pm at the clubrooms and is aimed at educating boys about keeping celebrations and parties safe. Boys are encouraged to attend with at least one parent. We will send a more detailed flyer to parents closer to the date.
Work is currently underway on a new range of merchandise which will provide an exciting new look for all of our apparel. We will be looking to release this progressively over the remainder of the season. Keep an eye out for more information on this over the coming months.
In the meantime, we are looking to clear some of our existing stock so we have some great specials at the moment.

Girls Team for 2017

We hope the boys continue to enjoy the season and we welcome any feedback you may have to help improve the club and the boys’ experience.
